Comparison between analog versus digital NOPTIC . The digital image in the JSX product has superior contrast and dynamic range to the analog signal in the legacy system. To activate the digital image, make sure to order NOPTIC with “Direct USB Video”. Many distributors offer analog-only systems and then provide a 3-rd party video capture USB dongle. This dongle is NOT a digital signal; it is a converted analog signal that has been modified to connect to your USB port. Moreover, these dongles are the single cause of failures in the field. We recommend that you do NOT use them.
